Jet-lag

This is ridiculous.

I am still jet-lagged. Unacceptable because classes start today!

Last night, I was so tired after dinner. They had an outdoor concert at the field, and it sounded like a lot of fun, and it is a well-known fact that I love concerts, but when my friend called at 8 PM asking me if I wanted to go, I was like, “Nahhh… I think I’m going to bed.”

So I tried going to bed at 8 PM. Never before in my life.

But then I could hear the concert through my windows, and people in my dorm were freaking loud, I don’t know why they have to talk so loudly all the time, it’s like their voices have no “soft” or “normal” mode, only “loud” and “louder”.

So I ended up putting in my earphones and going to bed listening to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack on repeat to drown out the noise. Just like I did the night before. (I swear, if I have to do this every night of the semester, I’m going to go crazy.)

But then I ended up not hearing all the calls on my phone. Missed two appointments with people.

And! I still haven’t unpack yet. I still dig through my suitcase for clothes, and my boxes are still all over the room.

I was up at 5:30 AM today. Tried to start unpacking a little.

This is going to be a bad week if I don’t get over my jet-lag soon!

Back in school

Back in Jagung-land againnnn!

Oh man it was a horrible 27-hour journey. Plus the 45 minutes to KLIA, the 2-hour wait to board the plane, and the 1-hour drive back to school, all in all the journey from my house in Selangor to my dorm room in Iowa took a whopping 31 hours.

Then I came on Facebook, searched for any guy (and it had to be a guy) who was online and hence must not be too busy, said hi and asked the seemingly innocent question of “So how was your summer?”

Found out he just got back on campus last night, drank a lot in the summer, and is hoping to spend a semester in South Africa. And then, just when the conversation was at a slight lag, I said I was sorry to bother him, but was he busy?

Straight away he went, “You need help with moving your boxes? From the storage room?”

Ahhh. Sometimes we can be incredibly transparent, even when we think we’re being smart and cunning. Now you know why it had to be a guy.

We ended up moving a shit ton of stuff, until by the end, we couldn’t even move the boxes for the last two meters to my room because we were TOO TIRED.

I must add that during all this, I still have not showered / brushed my teeth. After a 31-hour journey from Petaling Jaya.

Don’t worry la, I got rinse my mouth many times and all. I figured that I will sweat like a pig after moving my stuff, so there was no use in showering first.

Anyway.

Now all my boxes are in my room, I’ve showered / brushed my teeth / pooped (hahahah yes 32 hours didn’t poop leh!), and I had lunch at Subway with a friend.

Now I just have to unpack everything, and vacuum or sweep my room because it’s so dusty.

I have a single room this year! At a very, very crazy dorm.

If you want to party, this is your dorm. If you want to do weed, this is your dorm. If you want to play beer pong on a Wednesday night, this is SO your dorm.

Obviously not at all a conducive environment for studying. I didn’t choose this dorm, it was a long story involving me, my plan to study abroad next semester, and the guy with whom I’m swapping rooms with. Long story over, I ended up here.

Anyway!

I am dead tired, but my room is very dusty and I don’t know which of the boxes are my bed sheets in. I do not plan on unpacking tonight, so this means? Sleep over at my friend’s place! Yay!

Okay she’s here, bye bye!!

foot. switch.

Why is it that when you’re lying in bed at night, and you’re having these (relatively) profound thoughts swimming in your head, and you figure those would be cool things to write and blog about, but when you finally sit down and try to write them out, everything just leaves you?

They abandon you so that all you can do when that “create post” page is open is rave about the wonders of (insert favourite thing) and bitch about one thing or another.

This being one of those times, I’ll just go on to say that for the past week I’ve been counting down the days to —– SWITCHFOOT concert!

Gah I’ve never been more excited!

Given the nature of their songs (inspirational lyrics, beautiful music, not-too-loud sort of rock), I think it’s the perfect chance to recharge and re-discover yourself. Even better is the fact that it’ll be held in Hall 4 at the KL Convention Centre, which means it’s small and perhaps it’d feel more personal.

I love Switchfoot. I forgot how amazing they can be.

Their music is one of the most inspirational, not a la Joey McIntyre “Stay The Same” kind of way (which is cheesy when you listen to it at the wrong time of the day), but more of the U2 “Beautiful Day” way.

Their songs aren’t as distracting (and not as bashing loud), which made them my most played during those horrid long hours of study during PMR.

And you know what else is exciting? Chinese New Year!

The most most most most exciting time of the year!

You go to any mall right now and the there’d be all the red decorations up and all that dong-dong-chiang songs would be playing.

They’d have all these modernized versions of that “mei tiao da jie xiao xiang” or that “he xin nian, zhu xin nian” song playing. The other day I was at 1U, if I remember correctly, and they played this weird song that was really an English song and a Chinese song merged together.

They forget, of course, that most times, the original remains the best.

Obviously I haven’t got a whole lot of things in my life to particularly excited over right now.

Er right I’ll go off now, to have a bit of doughnut.

YOU WILL NEVER BELONG TO ME!

Hoo. Got news got news!

Switchfoot is playing here next month!

Switchfoot Live In Malaysia
Date: Saturday, February 2, 2008
Venue: Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre – Hall 4
Doors open: 6.30pm
Opening act: Love Me Butch
Ticket prices: RM120 (pre-sale), RM 140 (at door)
* All ticket prices exclude RM3 processing fee
Website: www.onearmed.net

KL Convention Centre hall is a very weird venue for a concert indeed (not a large capacity, I presume), but nevermind, I’m not complaining.

Can you see? I’m already excited.

Now I just gotta find someone who likes them enough to pay to watch them.

Anyway. This is going to sound so typical-girly, but I think Grey’s Anatomy is The Best Show Evarrr.

I mean, sometimes I forget, then I watch an episode on TV and I’m once again reminded how awesome the show is.

Drama, tears, Life Lessons. Every single episode.

And occasionally during the show, I’d have the urge to become a doctor, just so I could have med interns as cool as Christina and Izzie and George. Not Meredith though, she’s annoying as heck. Her relationship with McDreamy is annoying as heck.

But oh how I like George.

Then I can have witty, sarcastic conversations, and I’d have a gazillion chances at clever comebacks, which all make life so much more interesting.

This post is so filler-ish.

Actually no la, I just wanted to highlight the fact that Switchfoot tickets are selling out fast, ’cause the venue isn’t Stadium Merdeka or anything huge like that, and it says so on the site that the tickets are selling fast.

Task accomplished, now I shall leave. Bye.

(In case you wondered, the post title is very random one. Nothing to do with anything.)

Post not worth reading (really!)

So I just received the most valuable Christmas present ever.

From someone I got to know 1.5 weeks ago.

Everyone exuded so much warmth, if it was winter here, you wouldn’t need heaters. It was weirdly unsettling initially.

Christmas this year is going to be totally wonderful, can’t you just tell?

* * * * *

My mom is asking me to go for National Service next year. Sighh I’d rather bum around at home.

Okay no. I’d rather look for a job, earn a little money, and….. buy something.

Or I could bum around at home.

Whatever la, I’m in no mood to do anything lately.

Essays not written, cancelled one college off my To-Apply list because I was too lazy to finish 2 essays required in the pre-application due December 15 [too late now anyway (me mom would slaughter me if she found out)], worried as heck over the impending disaster that is my SAM results, and I have a crazy hankering for doughnuts.

I have a good mind to drive off to Sunway Pyramid just to get them. I don’t know the way to Pavilion, by the way.

I’m in the mood for, uh, nothing, except go out with friends, and eat doughnuts.

And I love-hate my blog, I think. Right now I love it less.

Simply put – I am in a Complaining Mood.

I think it comes right before That Time Of The Month.

Thankyou and goodbye.

(Having a blog makes people complain more, of course. Did you realize?)

Baaaaaaaannngs.

Can you believe it!

Have you ever seen someone with a horrible fringe / bangs, and you think to yourself, what was she thinking?

I got a hair cut today, and now I look absolutely positively lala!

That *&$# hairstylist gave me a fringe. He gave me a @#$% lala fringe!

Add to that the fact that I straightened me hair half a year ago, and what you have is one of those Japanese doll wannabe.

It’ll take a YEAR before the stupid bangs grow out!

My sister’s hairstylist. She’s a regular there, but it was my first time. And last time, mark my words! I told him not too short.

CL says it’s “cute”. Everyone knows what that means. =(

I have a horrible looking friiiiiiiiiiinge!

I feel so self-conscious la.

* * * * *

This evening was really, really wonderful.

Horrible bangs aside, I’m feeling very, very contented!

To sum things up, is a quote I copied from someone from some message board –

I love the fact that I’ve got my whole life ahead of me and it’s gonna be freaking awesome!”

All filler, No killer

Keep in mind, I sometimes exaggerate a little when I blog.

(I’m talking about my last post, and all the posts before that.)

* * * * *

Watch this vid! Funny as heck!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKnloiM-0Ns&rel=1]

I imagine Asian American parents are more uptight about B’s than Asian-Asian parents.

My parents are okay with B’s, but I think that’s ’cause they don’t expect a lot from us, LOL.

* * * * *

Eek, I got the score report from CollegeBoard today. I realize 670 is a very bad score to get.

Definitely lower than the 25th percentile of almost all Very Selective Schools.

So what do I do now? Take the test again in January and opt for rush reporting (and pay exxxtra cash)?
(Very enticing option)

Cross my fingers and hope I do so unbelievably-magically well on my SAM finals that admission officers cut me some slack?

Apply to “second tier” schools? (Okay so there’s no such thing as second tier schools, college education is really what you make out of it.)

It is insane that this Chinese guy got 780 for Maths Level 2, and complain in his blog that he is “disappointed, could’ve done better”.

It makes me feel incompetent.

You think it’s worth it, taking the subject tests again?

* * * * *

I think I need to change the blog layout and stuff, y’know, revamp it a little.

Sorry, this is a filler kind of post.

I’m uploading photos onto Photobucket, and I can hardly do two things at the same time.

One more week till My Chemical Romance’s concert, and since the entire family (of four) is going, the entire family will have to miss my cousin’s engagement ceremony!

My cousin’s half Malay, I would’ve really liked to see how it goes, the gifts-exchange and all. Woulda been pretty cool.

I wonder what my aunts and uncles and cousins would think about my mom going to a rock concert.

My mom going to a rock concert.

My mom going to a rock concert.

My mom going to a concert!

My mom has never been to a concert before, if you must know, and she thinks Linkin Park is hardcore and Way Too Noisy.

She told my bro (who is about to embark on his 2-year missionary trip) that she has to experience a live rock show before she dies.

Thumbs up to her!

12.05

It is now 12.05 a.m, and I am online.

I have closed my chemistry books, put away all my notes, and I am ready!

Yeashhhhh ready for Chemistry.

Last time I’ll ever have to sit for a Chem paper, and boy do I feel good thinking about it.

Wish me luck turning that forecasted ‘C’ into an ‘A’!

Out.

Impending Freedom!

I haven’t got anything to say, other than that the guy in the airport photo in our English paper looks a lot like… Tommy Lee.

Staring riiiiiight back at us.

And that I cannot understand why exam venues have to be so darn cold.

I was having spasms during Physics. No kidding man, (stomach muscles?) was really twitching.
Had to sit on my hands every now and then. It was that cold.

I’ve resorted to wearing THREE layers of clothing, so you know why I look like a dumpling!

Three papers over.

Two more to go.

There’s a much smaller stack of past-year papers to complete.

I can feel the excitement mounting!

Rush

So.

Last week of school next week!

I hadn’t properly noticed, until Adeline SMS-ed me just now to remind me to go to school tomorrow ’cause it’d be our last lab session.

Last lab session!

Which would also be my last chance ever to carry out a lab experiment.

I guess I would miss science, but not enough to take it up again in university!

TOEFL this Saturday.

Don’t even know the format.

How?

One year went by so fast, it feels like high school graduation happened just last month.
